We are gearing up for our annual Summer Peace and Social Justice Camp this June 29 – July 17 and August 27 – 14, 2015. It’s a theater and film camp for children ages 6 – 11, that focuses on social justice topics of race, class, gender, environment, and other topics children are curious to discuss and explore. The children learn about all aspects of theater and film including ~ acting, set design, costumes, editing, and performance, while having tons of fun and laughs.
In the first session, the children work as a team with the Director in identifying a play, exploring the topic at hand and over three weeks identify roles in acting and the technical side to theater. The children have an opportunity to debut their final creation to the preschool children in our Roots & Fruits Program. In the second session the children write their own film on a topic of choice, create the set design, costumes, and learn directing and editing in film. Again, they will debut their final movie creation to the Roots & Fruits kiddos, who love watching their creations.
If you are interested in registering your child for camp go to our Community Branches Page under Peace Camp and download a registration form. We would love to have your child participate!!!
Thanks!!! Smiles and peace!!
